New Jersey Motorcycle Accidents

In New Jersey, when you’re injured in an accident your medical bills are paid through your Personal Injury Protection or PIP, which is part of your car insurance policy. When you are involved in an accident on a motorcycle, the PIP coverage does not apply and your bills will not be paid by your automobile insurance coverage. Therefore, your bills will be paid either by your health insurance company or your bills will be made part of your case if you do not have any health insurance. Otherwise, motorcycle accidents are handled the same way as any other motor vehicle accident.
It is important to know that in New Jersey, motorcycles are not required to go for an inspection and it is the responsibility of the rider to make sure their motorcycle is safe. It could be the owner’s responsibility if their motorcycle is not up to safety and they did not check the necessary components. The state provides a list of components that should be working that include the brakes on front and rear wheels, wheel alignment, handlebar grips lower than the height of your shoulders, and many other factors.
